I have been interested in art and design from as long as I can remember. As a child I would go through my dad's drawings he did at school and improved my own drawing skills by copying his drawings of people and still life, before going onto undertake my own creations. I very nearly went to college to study design but in the end chose a different career path. However, being in full time work meant there was little time for creating art and hence I became a “Leisure” artist.
I do find that not only is drawing and painting extremely enjoyable it is also very therapeutic. I love learning new techniques and using different mediums and currently work in pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolour, acrylic, oil and collage. I particularly like drawing and painting animals, portraits and life but I get great pleasure from drawing and painting any subject.
There are many art groups and societies in the area and I have found these very useful in helping develop my artistic abilities and hope to continue to learn throughout my lifetime.
