Demonstrations by accomplished and professional artists are offered . The topics and artistic media demonstrated vary and we try to accommodate all aspects of art work.
We hold the demonstrations in the Retford Post16 lecture theatre. This is an excellent venue as the raked seating allows for everyone to get a good view. We have a video projection of proceedings and a microphone and amplifier so that no one will miss any information. Of course, the tea, coffee and biscuit break allows folks to comment on proceedings as well as catching up with local happenings.
These are normally held on the last Thursday of the month but this has to be changed at times when the Post16 centre is closed for half term breaks.
The cost is £4 for members, £6 for non-members and £2 for students over 16 years.
A number of workshops are offered each year with professional artists giving tuition. We try to offer variety topics and media.
Evening workshops are also offered at the Post16 centre. Please see the programme .pdf above.
Additionally we sometimes offer full day workshops for Life Drawing and Painting, see above.
In August, instead of our demonstration evening, we offer a plein air session in some local place of interest. We have visited places such as Rufford Park, Papplewick pumping station, Stockwith basin and Hodstock Priory.
Our main exhibitions are held twice every year, one in Spring and another in Autumn.
