When
I went to Chesterfield Art School in the 60's, I thought I'd died and
gone to heaven - Brilliant! I left equipped for, and achieved, a career
as dress designer and fashion artist.
I continued this on a freelance basis after marriage and family. Later,
I returned to my first love, drawing and painting, and became an F.E.
teacher of that subject.
Later still in the 90's, after all thise years of practical stuff, I
decided to givethe vrain a rude awakening; I studied for and gained a
degree in Philosophy at Sheffield Uunversity.
There is no doubt in my mind that studying Philosophy gave me a far
better understanding of Art than I had before. All the posturing and
analysing never seems to get to the heart of it. I believe the meaning
of Art, in all its forms, is to feel and give joy.
Anyone for tennis?
